The other day I said i needed some Chapstick
and you gave me your Chapstick
then smiled and turned away.
I thought it smelled like christmas or just the winter
and I turned to give it back to you
but you didn't stay.
And now some time has passed and I lost that Chapstick
but the smell of the Chapstick
hangs around my lips.
If I could find you, I would buy you new Chapstick
or maybe just a dinner
and a flower for you.
But now I'm in my room which smells like space heater
and it makes me miss home, and sure
it makes me miss you.
But I'll just think about your little red Chapstick
and its bright yellow cap
and how it left me so blue.
And when I see you next I know we'll hold hands,
and well then each of our fingers,
they will hold hands too.
And all your fingers, they will be needing Chapstick
and then mine will supply it
as repayment to you.
My Chapstick is for you and me alone
On the front porch of that house where we'll grow old.
It will be our biggest fan when we're unknown.
